Series 40 pumps are compact, high power density hydraulic components. The design concept utilizes a parallel arrangement of axial plungers and slide shoes and a tiltable swash plate to change the plunger stroke and thus pump displacement.

The displacement of the pump is changed by changing the stroke of the plunger through a tiltable swash plate. The direction of the pump outlet fluid changes with the direction of the swash plate, thus realizing the motor
